Our ESC volunteer Rinad in Brasov, Romania

I’m Rinad Al Masri, a young Jordanian woman raised in a home that values knowledge, purpose, and the impact we leave behind. I didn’t start from zero—I started from a legacy of love, generosity, and honesty passed on by my parents. They taught me to love learning, to believe in others, and to always strive to make a meaningful difference in the world.

Today, I’m living a beautiful and meaningful experience in Brașov, Romania, as part of a volunteer project called “KEN.” Brașov is a magical city, surrounded by mountains, peaceful and clean, with incredibly fresh air. The weather is much colder than Jordan, but it brings a special connection to nature that I truly enjoy.

What makes this project unique is that it’s not just about taking part in existing activities. We learn how to plan and design sessions ourselves, working together with young people from different countries. Sometimes we organize cultural sessions, and other times we choose something we’re passionate about and teach it to others. It creates a powerful space for exchanging experiences and learning in a way that feels personal and real.

All of the sessions are created and led by the participants, which makes the experience more meaningful and empowering. It’s a beautiful reminder of how much young people can create when they’re given the space to lead.

To me, volunteering is more than just an activity—it’s a mindset, a way of living. It’s about believing that real impact comes from giving, from intention, and from the spirit you put into what you do. This journey in Romania is another step in that path, carrying everything I’ve learned from my parents, and continuing forward with a flame that never fades.

أنا رناد المصري، شابة أردنية نشأت في بيت يؤمن بالعلم والقيم، ويزرع فينا قناعة أن الأثر الحقيقي يُصنع من خلال العمل والعطاء. لم أبدأ من الصفر، بل انطلقت من إرث غني ورثته عن والديّ، إرثٍ مليء بالمحبة والصدق والدعم. نشأت على يدَي أم وأب علّماني حب التعلم، والثقة بالناس، والإيمان بأن التميّز ليس مجرد هدف، بل أسلوب حياة.

اليوم أعيش تجربة جديدة ومميزة في مدينة براشوف الرومانية، ضمن مشروع تطوّعي اسمه “KEN”. براشوف مدينة هادئة وجميلة، تحيط بها الجبال من كل الجهات، وهواؤها نقي ومنعش. رغم أن الطقس بارد ومختلف كثيرًا عن طقس الأردن، إلا أنه يحمل نوعًا خاصًا من الصفاء والسكينة.

ما يجعل هذا المشروع مميزًا هو أننا لا نشارك في أنشطة جاهزة فقط، بل نحن من يخطط وينفّذ. نتعلم كيف نرتب الجلسات بأنفسنا، ونعمل مع شباب من أعمارنا ومن دول مختلفة، لنبتكر جلسات وفعاليات نابعة من أفكارنا. أحيانًا تكون هذه الجلسات ثقافية، وأحيانًا نختار شيئًا نحبه ونتقنه لننقله للآخرين. هذا ما يفتح أمامنا فرصًا حقيقية لتبادل الخبرات والتعلّم من بعضنا البعض، والتعرّف على ثقافات جديدة بطريقة تفاعلية وقريبة.

جميع الأنشطة هنا من تنفيذ الشباب المشاركين، وهذا ما يمنحها طابعًا واقعيًا وحيويًا. إنها تجربة رائعة تمنحنا مساحة للإبداع والتعبير، وفرصة لتوسيع معارفنا وبناء علاقات لا يحدها المكان.
بالنسبة لي، التطوع ليس مجرد وقت أو جهد أبذله، بل هو أسلوب حياة، وإيمان بأن الأثر الحقيقي يُقاس بالفعل والنية، لا بالكلمات. وهذه الرحلة في رومانيا هي خطوة جديدة في طريقي، أحمل فيها كل ما علّمني إياه والديّ، وأسير بشغف لا يخبو
